Participate in the Waller Creek Cleanup!
Volunteers are needed to come out and help clean the creek and avoid further pollution of this resource.
What is Waller Creek?
Waller Creek is an urban watershed that runs from North Austin through the city and campus into Lady Bird Lake downtown. Even though it's in the middle of the city, the creek is home to a great diversity of wildlife. From the Great Blue Heron to the Roseate Skimmer Dragonfly, many types of animals rely on the creek habitat for survival.
But being an urban watershed means that Waller Creek suffers many pollution problems too. Trash from the streets washes down storm drains and into the creek. Sometimes people even dump large items into the creek so they don't have to pay for disposal. This pollution can adversely affect the wildlife, water quality, and beauty of Waller Creek.
